The Concept of Surrender
The concept of Surrender is not one that most Americans are comfortable with. The idea of letting go of what we know – even if it is in our Highest Good, is filled with fear. However, at this incredible time while I am learning to expand and use the new planetary energy, the message of Surrender is coming to me from all sorts of different directions. I can not ignore this obvious message. We are all being affected by the same intense energy, although it is manifesting differently in many of our lives – physically, emotionally, and mentally. To me it really seems as though the heated anger that is so prevalent in this country is ungrounded use of this energy which is flowing so abundantly onto our Earth. I am sending Love and Light into each situation that comes to my attention right now. There really does not seem to be anything else I can do. I know it is important for each of us to learn to ground these Light filled energies so we can use them in beneficial ways, for the planet as well as personally.
I am including links to some great information, in case you are inclined to take the intensity of what is going on too personally. You are not alone! One link is to Lauren Gorgo of www.ThinkwithYourHeart.net, as she offers her, often irreverent, but truthful look at the energy affecting her life right now. I love her description of the symptoms we may be experiencing, some of which I personally discovered surfacing in my life.
I always think astrological information is very useful, so I am including a link to www.Northpoint Astrology by Pam Younghans. She is including her river rafting experience as an analogy which seems so appropriate to this time.
I was also reminded of the prologue to one of my all time favorite books, Illusions by Richard Bach, the author of Johnathon Livingston Seagull. I offer to you the short story about rivers and surrender at the beginning of that delightfully powerful book:
Once there lived a village of creatures along the bottom of a great crystal river. The current of the river swept silently over them all – young and old, rich and poor, good and evil, the current going its own way, knowing only its own crystal self.
Each creature in its own manner clung tightly to the twigs and rocks of the river bottom, for clinging was their way of life, and resisting the current what each had learned from birth.
But one creature said at last, “I am tired of clinging. Though I cannot see it with my eyes, I trust that the current knows where it is going. I shall let go, and let it take me where it will. Clinging, I shall die of boredom.”
The other creatures laughed and said, “Fool! Let go, and that current you worship will throw you tumbled and smashed across the rocks, and you will die quicker than boredom!”
But the one heeded them not, and taking a breath did let go, and at once was tumbled and smashed by the current across the rocks. Yet in time, as the creature refused to cling again, the current lifted him free from the bottom, and he was bruised and hurt no more.
The creatures downstream, to whom he was a stranger, cried, “See a miracle! A creature like ourselves, yet he flies! See the Messiah, come to save us all!”
And the one carried in the current said, “I am no more Messiah than you. The river delights to lift us free, if only we dare let go. Our true work is this voyage, this adventure.”
But they cried the more, “Savior!” all the while clinging to the rocks, and when they looked again he was gone, and they were left alone making legends of a Savior.
…And finally, for me any talk of rivers brings up a lovely Sufi poem that reminds us, “The ocean refuses no river.” The same river of energy is flowing around and through us all. It is our job to let go into its flow as it leads us back to the great Ocean.
My all of our letting goes be filled with Grace. Many blessings, Shanta
